Porsche marks 50 years of existence with special edition 911

The Porsche 911 model combines opposites like no other sports car – tradition and innovation, high-end and social acceptance, and, of course, performance and efficiency.

Porsche is thus celebrating its 50th anniversary of the 911 model with a special edition anniversary car based on the Porsche 911 Carrera S. The special edition Porsche 911 will be launched at the International Auto Saloon of Frankfurt, just like the original 911 back in 1963.

Being today a reference when it comes to sports cars, the Porsche 911 has brought joy to all auto enthusiasts even since its launch (the original name was 901, changed later to 911). Just like the original Porsche 911, the anniversary edition is a coupe model with a six cylinder boxer engine and a rear wheel drive.

The anniversary model will only be produced in 1963 units, as homage to the year when the Porsche 911 made its international debut. Even though with time passing by the Porsche 911 has developed a lot, it keeps its unique character.

The limited edition Porsche 911 Carrera S comes with an engine capable of developing 400 horsepower, enough to highlight all the characteristics which today stand out as 50 years of history. Other features include a sports exhaust system with a specific powerful sound, the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) system with special tuning and a widened wheel gauge for an increase in stability during dynamic cornering.

Special 20 inch alloy wheels are a visual tribute to the legendary “Fuchs” wheels, being treated with matte black paint and having being polished in the center part. A distinctive element of this limited edition Porsche 911 is represented by the chromed ornaments on the frontal air intakes and the panel between the stop lights. Another specific technical element is the PDL (Porsche Dynamic Light) system which comes with adaptive lights and bi-xenon headlights.

The anniversary edition Porsche 911 will be available in two dedicated color options: geyser metallic grey and graphite dark grey. There also will be a monochrome black option available. Each car will have a 3D badge on the back lid, in two tones, with the signs “911 50”. This element can also be found in the three colored broidery on the headrest and as a logo in two colors on the speedometer along with the aluminum still of the doors. The “911 50” mark can also be found on the cup holder along with the serial plates on each of the limited edition cars.

Other interior features of the limited edition Porsche 911 include tunable sports seats with 14 or 18 settings, optionally available. The gear leaver and the gear knob are assorted with the decorative elements found on the board, doors and central console unit, being made from brushed aluminum and are part of the Porsche Exclusive program.

The anniversary edition Porsche 911 will be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds having a maximum speed of 300 km/h. The official average fuel consumption is of 9.5 liters / 100 kilometers and it has a 224 grams / kilometer output of carbon dioxide.
