The new BMW X5 is an evolution in terms of design in comparison to the previous generation. The overall design line suggests more force and dynamism. The accent is put on aerodynamic optimizations, thanks to the frontal and rear design touches like bulging surfaces and horizontal lines. Other trademark design lines include circular double headlights which extend up to the radiator grill and the elegant extended silhouette with side lines by the muscular areas of the tires.
At launch, there will be 3 engine options available: the BMW X5 M50d, which is the M performance version, with a six cylinder tri-turbo diesel engine capable of developing 381 horsepower, the BMW X5 xDrive30d with a six cylinder diesel engine with an output of 258 horsepower and finally the BMW X5 xDrive50i which comes with a new generation V8 petrol engine capable of developing 450 horsepower.

The efforts to reduce fuel consumption include new solutions to reduce the total weight, aerodynamic optimizations thanks to new body elements like the Aero Blades, Air Curtains and Air Breathers. Other features include the TwinPower Turbo technology for the engines, eight gear automatic transmission, Brake Energy Regeneration and Auto Start-Stop functions. An innovative is the ECO PRO mode which integrates the coasting function when the foot is taken off the acceleration pedal (it allows the car to go without the engine in gear at speeds between 50 km/h and up to 160 km/h).
The SPORT+, SPORT, COMFORT and ECO PRO modes control the dynamic behavior of the BMW X5. These modes can be used thanks to the Comutator Driving Experience Control feature which comes as standard.
