Dacia is not planning on launching a smaller model than the Sandero hatchback. Carlos Tavares, an important Dacia official, made this statement, thus shattering the hopes of the Dacia fans who were hoping that a smaller model was in the making.
Even though the Dacia range of models expanded spectacularly in the last couple of years, with the launch of a compact SUV (the Dacia Duster), a multi-purpose vehicle (Dacia Lodgy) and a mpv/utility model (Dacia Dokker) it seems that the plans for the range don't include a small city car to compete the likes of the Skoda Citigo or Volkswagen UP.
Carlos Tavares, the delegate general director of Dacia, stated that the reason for which Sandero will remain the smallest model in the range is that "We don't want too many models in our lineup. We have to communicate and make the Dacia brand known and not to divide our marketing budget on promoting too many models. The Dacia brand awareness is not at a high enough level yet."
